Barcelona will submit a new bid for Philippe Coutinho in January, according to reports in Spain. Mundo Deportivo claim that the La Liga leaders’ offer will consist of an €80 million (£71m) payment up front with another €30m (£26.5m) in add-ons.

The report claims that Barcelona have decided to stick with the same bid they put forward in the summer as they believe that it reflects a fair price for the Brazilian. Coutinho also remains in contact with Barcelona’s hierarchy and has instructed his agent to continue to press Liverpool for a transfer.

Coutinho has already featured in the Champions League group stage, meaning that he would not be able to play for Barcelona in Europe if he made the move to Camp Nou in January. But the midfielder would be a welcome addition at Barcelona ahead of the second half of their domestic campaign. After the summer transfer window closed, Barcelona claimed that Liverpool demanded €200 million (£183m) for the 25-year-old
