Philippians 4:6 KJV
Be careful for nothing; but in EVERY THING BY PRAYER and (WHICH IS) supplication WITH thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
When the challenges of life seem to overwhelm and threaten to swallow a person, it can be very difficult to pray. The mind swirls with so much thoughts and confusion that one cannot even focus. Your attempts to pray in such cases become either feeble or futile. The taunts of the enemy echo loudly in your head even as your confused mind seems to agree with it and grows numb. In prayer, you mutter and utter senseless phrases repeatedly even as your thoughts dart about furtively like a trapped mouse. You weep profusely, accuse God erroneously, then turn and bind the enemy in a futile half hearted attempt to exercise spiritual authority.
At times like this, prayer becomes a drudgery. However, no matter how hard it gets, just pray. No matter how poor you sound, pray. No matter how ineffective your prayers appear, pray.
You must remember that you have a High Priest in Heaven who understands ALL your weaknesses because He experienced every one of these weaknesses as an earthling man. (Hebrews 4:15 / Hebrews 5:1-2)
Your High Priest Jesus, takes your prayers even in their worst state and beautifies them before presenting them to the Father. He understands your infirmities because he also was tempted like you but didn’t fall. He invites you to come to Him in prayer just the way you are. He will remove all the “impurities” of your prayer, present them to God and secure an answer for you.
So the next time you find yourself in an emotional mess, do not avoid prayer, go for it remembering the High Priest factor.
Go ahead and pray. Jesus is waiting.
