Proverbs 13:22 KJV
“A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just”

It is an undeniable fact that we are living in very challenging times. Many economies the world over are heavily challenged, while yet others are in dire straits. As a result, cost of living has quadrupled. The chain effect is visible in the craze to acquire more money by people.

Many couples having decided that whatever they lacked growing up, their kids will not experience,  work very hard to create a life of luxury and comfort for their kids. They engage in building houses, setting up businesses, traveling back and forth in a bid to build the future. In the end they write their wills bequeathing all they sweated for to their kids as inheritance.

The question is; have your kids received enough training to wisely handle all the wealth you are laboring to leave them?

Ecclesiastes 7:11 KJV
WISDOM is good WITH an INHERITANCE: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun.

To leave your children great inheritance without a legacy of wisdom is tantamount to futility. All your sweat would have been wasted because they will mismanage and waste all you sweated to leave them.

What kind of children will inherit your wealth?

Ecclesiastes 2:18-19 KJV
“Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should LEAVE it unto the MAN THAT SHALL BE AFTER ME. [19] And who knoweth whether he shall be a Wise man or a Fool? yet shall he have RULE over ALL my labour wherein I have laboured….”

The growing up years of children are so few that before you know it they’ve grown up & left home. If you are so busy chasing an inheritance to leave in your will for them and you miss the opportunity of enjoying the kids and helping them grow, it is foolishness. By the time they are all grown and you are all old, it’s already too late to influence them. It is easier to BEND a child than to MEND a man.

Instead of writing your WILL on paper, write your WILL in them in their formative years.
The difference between the 2 WILLS is that while your paper Will leaves them houses and wealth, your Will planted inside them leaves in them a Legacy of Wisdom. The difference between inheritance and legacy is that one is external and the other internal.

Think about the REAL value of your will. If your will cannot guarantee the continuity of the next generation after you, you’d have failed.

You need to invest more time with your kids as they grow. A situation where both Father and Mother are gone daily in search of inheritance for kids that they leave in the care of a maid or nanny is an inevitable disaster.
You’ll end up leaving inheritance for kids that you don’t really know and who don’t know you either, even though you gave birth to them.
They’ll only know you as a Santa Claus who comes home a lot more often with expensive clothes and gifts of every kind. THOSE KIDS NEED A MOTHER AND FATHER!

Don’t let them weep profusely over the corpse of a nanny that raised them but pass coldly and tearless by your open casket in old age.

In summary, what you leave IN your kids is of greater value than what you leave FOR your kids.

After all has been said and done, what shall be the true value of your will? Paper or character?

Also remember that your failure as a parent in this assignment represents a potential danger to society because the child you were not there to raise may one day become the President of the nation. How unfortunate indeed will be such a nation!
SELAH.

CONFESSION
Dear Father, please help me to operate by your Divine Wisdom. Help me to prioritize family above wealth. Help me to place greater value on my children than on things. You’ve entrusted the care and upbringing of these biological gifts into my hands, please help me to leave even more IN them, than FOR them. May our children become blessings to society by virtue of the legacies they receive from us their parents. Thank you for helping me today and always in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Shalom my beloved.
