Colossians 1:12-13 KJV
Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the INHERITANCE of The saints IN LIGHT: Who hath delivered us from the power of DARKNESS and hath TRANSLATED us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
We were delivered from Darkness and brought into God’s family of Light. Today, we are free from the power of darkness. Notice that no matter how thick the darkness, once light is turned on, the darkness vanishes. Yet, darkness never truly goes away. It hangs around the edges of the light, hoping and waiting for the light to go out. Once the light goes out, darkness resurfaces.
The darkness of Night comes when our particular continent is moved out of the direct path of the sun by the rotational movement of the earth as it orbits the sun. Therefore, it is worthy of note that the presence of darkness is simply the absence of light.
A Bible passage comes to mind about David’s encounter with Saul prior to his killing of Goliath.
1 Samuel 17:34-35 KJV
And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took A LAMB out of the flock: And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.
The greatest blessing of a Shepherd is the Lamb. Lambs signify continuity. A flock without lambs will soon die off. The Lion and The Bear both came at different times with only one thing on their minds - “Lamb chop”. They didn’t come for the Shepherd. They didn’t come for the Sheep. They came for the Lambs - the reward and harvest of the shepherd’s Labour.
Where were the Lion and the Bear when the Shepherd was tending the sheep? Where were they when the Ewe conceived and carried the pregnancy full cycle before delivery? They were hiding in the shadows, in the wings and watching the whole process. They bided their time and waited patiently till the lambs were brought forth. That was their cue to strike. Thank God for a watchful Shepherd like David. He went after the Bear and The Lion, struck them and delivered his harvest out of their mouths.
Beloved, darkness never goes away, it hangs around in the shadows, at the very edge of light. It watches you sweat and labour through planting and watering seasons until your harvest is ready, then it strikes. No wonder Jesus instructed us to WATCH and PRAY.
Your greatest hour of prayer should be during the period of your harvest. When things are about to explode for your joy and upliftment, pray like never before, for the enemy is watching from the shadows. Shadows represent the areas of your life where Light is intercepted by something tangible. Check what causes shadows in your life. Watch out for “pet sins” and fleshly weaknesses that you’ve been pampering. These are the things that obstruct and intercept the photons of the Light of the Word from gaining full ascendancy.
Are you in a season of expectancy? Pray. Most times, believers pray against abortion and miscarriage of miracles. While that is good, the greatest prayer focus should be on the point of delivery. When you are celebrating a successful deal or the conclusion of whatever you were after. That’s when the enemy comes out from the shadows to attack your lambs.
As you stay prayed up, may your warfare be turned into funfair in the name of Jesus.
