Psalm 91:4,7-8 KJV
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
“Under his wings” is a Jewish metaphor for being under the protective, preservative and provisioning custody of a stronger person. God is definitely not a bird and does not have wings. This therefore is an allusion to safety and succour in God.
I’ve severally witnessed a mother hen flee from danger out of self preservation, only to run back to her brood immediately. The loss of an egg or chic triggered a day - long clucking protest to be heard from the hen.
Now, hens are easy to dislodge by stronger opponents and their brood exposed to danger BUT the Most High God is a “Man” of War and whatever He keeps is secure.
Just as the wings of the mother hen covers the chicks and make them invisible to evil eyes, even so when you are hidden in the secret place of God, the enemy cannot see you or touch you.
*The secret place is not a physical location, it is rather a spiritual and mental position. It involves the personal discipline of trusting in God as your source of provision and shield of protection*. (Psalm 125:1)
When challenges come, you simply withdraw mentally to the secret place in prayer and trust. The confidence of running back to God in the secret place will always produce answers. (Matthew 6:6)
As 2017 fast draws to a close, run into the secret place. In the secret place, may you and all of yours be preserved, protected and provisioned in the name of Jesus.
