THE GRACE VINE

“...... not knowing that THE GOODNESS OF GOD leadeth thee to repentance?”
All humans grew up with the knowledge that when you do wrong, evil or punishment should be your expectation and the natural consequence. Nothing emphasises this belief like the “Law of Karma”. Christian teachings describe it as “Sowing and Reaping”. While that is true of life, the Grace of God however handles things differently.
In the natural, wrong attracts punishment but the Grace of God does not punish wrong that way. It “punishes” you by extending Divine Goodness. God uses loving kindness as a tool for correcting wrong. (Isaiah 30:18).
God’s approach is to expose the vanity of sinfulness by showing you His loving kindness expressed as Mercy and Grace. When you see or experience the constant Goodness of God in spite of your sinfulness, you’ll become both ashamed and sorrowful about wrong doing.
Ezekiel 36:22,25-26,29-32 KJV
Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God ; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the CORN and will INCREASE it, and lay no famine upon you. And I will MULTIPLY THE FRUIT OF THE TREE, and THE INCREASE OF THE FIELD that ye shall receive NO MORE REPROACH OF FAMINE among the heathen. THEN SHALL YE REMEMBER YOUR OWN EVIL WAYS, and YOUR DOINGS THAT WERE NOT GOOD, and shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations. Not for your sakes do I this , saith the Lord God , be it known unto you: BE ASHAMED and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.
So God uses kindness to correct you His child. Where you deserve judgement, He shows unmerited mercy. Where you deserve punishment, He shows underserved love. THIS is GRACE - The unearned, unmerited and undeserved goodness of God.
However, if a person abuses this Grace by persisting in this unrepentant lifestyle, at some point, their cups will fill up and life will judge them. An unrepentant lifestyle of sexual immorality could result in HIV. Drunkenness could result in accident. Cheating could result in being caught and embarrassed. Stealing could lead to imprisonment. These punitive actions would be the result of breaking Man’s Law, who in turn may act mercilessly. On the God -ward side, Grace will ALWAYS be, but Man is not that gracious and forgiving.
Keep living under the covering of Divine Grace.
